In His Own Image - Timothy Hou

Obligatory Final Selfie!
On the second Sunday of the STEP program, we went to visit New Creation Church! While I shall not delve into details of what we discussed, one of the main takeaways was that even Presbyterians knew how to appreciate our fellow brothers and sisters at NCC and we went into the service with an open mind! Although some of us were rather taken aback by the culture shock. But I am glad the after service discussion did not degenerate into a charismatic bashing session. The importance of learning theology in order to better differentiate between shades of truth has sunk even more into my mind!

The title of this post, refers to the fact (and a personal realization) that although God makes all of us in His image, that doesn’t stop Him from moulding us into so many different souls, and that is just amazing. Heaven will never be boring with you guys, and of course God, around =)

This is the final reflection post of STEP, and how could I ever do justice to it without a proper dedication post to the people who made the past three weeks what they were? Up till now I still don’t know many of you personally, but I’ll try my best!

PPC Bros. Honestly, you guys were partly the reason why I joined in the first place, and it was a great journey. May it continue to be so!

Changzhong. You know, I realized that nearly everyone, myself included, had to give up some form of work (better pay and future prospects) to attend this program, but I did not realize the impact until I read your first week post about the internship. Hats off to you!

Joshua Lee. Your photos are awesome, really. Looking forward to the finished product on Friday!

Benedict. Sorry if you were affected by any of our perpetual teasing of you as the sleepyhead, haha. I liked your honest self-reflection about pride during the sharing on wed =)

Kerrhui. So touching your post! I’m glad too that all of us had fellowship in some way or another. The quietest are often the wisest =P

Glenn. It’s really funny seeing you and Matt hang out and ngiao each other. And you really care about your church and the faith (from the sharing during the internship seminar thing). Jiayou in serving!

Abigail. Haha you’re like, the next bro, among us interns. It’s great to see you being so passionate for God and serving and all, press on yea! =)

Matt. Hey! You’re always so lively and comfortable around others, and I think you make them comfortable too. I admire your passion in the worship ministry and getting others to see that passion and dedication too. May you always be making music to the Lord!

Yuanjie. You’re another quiet one! I’m glad I finally got the chance to talk to you on the very last day =)) thanks for your honest sharing of experiences. Really helps a newbie to uni life like myself =)

Amanda. I didn’t get to talk much to you! But its great seeing you being so cheerful! Hahaha.

Elvira. Thanks for appreciating my laughter XD and its great to see you always being hyper hahaha. Subeiteio Arigato ;)

Sheryl and Sarah. Hope you two don’t mind cause you’re always hanging out together! And honestly I mixed both of your names up (kinda like me and jon) until the last few days. Hehe. I’ve learned a lot from your honest yet insightful sharings =) And all the best in freshman year!

Hoi Wen. You and lim min are so alike in your passion it’s amazing to watch! Haha. It was great knowing more and being persuaded even more, of the importance of creation care through talking to you and stuff. All the best at work and in life!

Michelle. Thanks for your sharing with us on the last day ;) was really exciting for some of us! Haha. It’s also great to see the friendship dynamics between you and Michelle work out so well =)

Shawn. It’s great seeing another one of the Presbyterian youths step up to the challenge of service. Your experiences and insights are always very helpful =) All the best too yea!

Peter. You’re one of the most helpful people around I find. Thanks for everything yea! You have like your own brand of snarky humour too, which I appreciate XD

Alethea. You’re another quiet one! But always lively =P

Nicholas. You may seem abit distant at times, but you’re always thinking and concerned about important things. Great to hear and learn from you! All the best in NUS yea!

Adriel. You’re one of the very few people I know who are so passionate and so interested in knowing God more! I think I can also see that you’re very humble and willing to learn from others. All the best yea!

Reuben. I enjoyed hanging out with you, haha, cause somehow you’re easy to talk to =) All the best in the third year!

Crystal. The only princess in our midst! You know, on the first day I came I was telling grace: Who in the world calls herself a princess? Well now I know!

Pastors Joshua and Willy. There must have been many challenges preparing for and running this program, and even harder coining the name STEP =P So a big thank you!! I’ve learnt a lot from the both of you, whether be it in theological issues or personal heartfelt insights. Hope we all interns can have the chance to continue meeting up with you!

There! Finally. My fingers and wrists are at their limit already. Big apologies to anyone I unintentionally missed out, please inform me right away if anyone notices anything! Like ps Willy said, let this not be an emotionally high camp, where we forget all that has been impressed on our hearts by the Spirit through this program. Whatever flame we have received, let all others around us know of the heat and the light. And hopefully, one day we shall pass it on. =)

Nec Tamen Consumebatur.
